Image Cropper: Focal Point

Umbraco’s Image Cropper with Focal Point is a built-in feature that allows content editors to focus on the most important part of an image across different crops/screen sizes.

What It Does:

  • Image Cropping: Automatically or manually crops images to fit predefined dimensions (for responsive design, thumbnails, etc.).
  • Focal Point Selection: Lets editors visually select the most important area of the image (the "focal point").
  • When the image is cropped for different sizes/aspect ratios, Umbraco centers the crop around the focal point, ensuring the key content stays visible.

Why It's Useful:

  • Maintains important visual content (e.g. a face or product) in view, no matter the crop.
  • Makes responsive design easier—no need for multiple uploads.
  • Gives content editors control without needing Photoshop or developer help.
